Annie is now available for adoption and ready for her new family!
11/11/11 UPDATE: Annie has progressed beautifully and much quicker than expected!! She is doing exceptionally well and the other pups in her foster home have helped her learn to be a spoiled princess. Her new home will need to have another canine companion for her to bond with and someone willing to continue patience in her house training. She loves to snuggle in bed all night and has mastered crate training when you are away. Annie would be best suited with someone who is home a good deal of time to spend spoiling her, she deserves unconditional love and attention!
Meet little princess Annie!
This adorable bundle of fluff was rescued from a life of misery and neglect as a puppymill dog. Hundreds of dogs were rescued from a breeding mill in central IL where they lived in horrid conditions of filth, neglect, and desolation in small wire cages. Now that the horror story is over, Annie has begun recovery and rehabilitation, learning how to be a pet-something we all take for granted in our little fur-babies.
Annie's process of learning how to be a house dog and realizing she will never want for anything again, including a loving lap to snuggle on, will be a long road. She only knows to potty in her crate and her immediate surroundings, so we have begun training her to puppy pads and slowly learning leash walking outside-all which was a shock to her little feet who have never touched grass! She has caught on very quickly to leash walking and will have that mastered in no time. At this point she is very needy and anxious with her foster family-having little human contact before, now she can't get enough of it but doesn't quite know what to do with all the love and affection. The one bonus she has going for her is her love for other dogs, they're all she's ever bonded with so she almost can't live without them. She loves to romp and play with dogs of all sizes, it truly seems to be her way of destressing and just being a dog.
Annie will not be available for adoption until she fully adjusts and finds comfort in being a companion and loving addition to a family. We welcome sponsorship donations in her honor while she winds down the road of recovery, which may be a long one, but one we're determined to lead her down the path of health and happiness!
