Poppy
It is with a great deal of sadness I must report to you the loss of my precious Poppy. Over the two years we/I had him, he was the sweetest, lovingest, best-behaved dog we/I ever had. Poppy, of course, was on two or three meds, but eventually was almost blind, could not hear very well, and had developed large “knots” under his jaws and on his legs. The vet said he had lymphoma and would probably last only a few weeks to a month. During the nights and some naps, he “snored” quite loudly and was not eating much. I desperately miss him, and I think our other dog we adopted a week before him also misses him. She keeps smelling where he has been and sleeping to the side of the bed so he will have room to scoot in. Thank you so much for letting us adopt him!

Buffy
Fabulous Buffy died in April after a brief illness at the age of 15. She was adopted in 2012 and lived with her adoptive family just shy of four years before a previously asymptomatic and undiagnosed case of polycystic kidney disease reared its ugly head and took her way too soon. Buffy was the sweetest girl ever, had the best ears and is missed every day.

Gertie
It is hard to say goodbye to such a special companion, but we're glad she had 10 wonderful years with her family. "It is with great sadness that I inform you that Gertie (formerly Dolly) who I adopted almost 10 years ago passed away yesterday. I am heartbroken. I've asked anyone who wishes to honor Gertie to donate in her name to Genesis. Thank you for letting me be her mom."

Clara
I wanted to let you know that Clara died yesterday afternoon after being diagnosed 3 weeks ago of cancer here in Easthampton, MA. She was cheerful to the end, but yesterday afternoon she was gasping for oxygen, and I had to let her go. She was doing fairly well until Saturday night, so I'm grateful that she didn't suffer for long. In fact, yesterday morning she stubbornly insisted on spending extra time outside, even though walking was a chore for her by then. And she happily ate peanut butter when she would no longer eat anything else. Only 2 weeks ago she had enough energy to destroy my shower curtain while I was at work. I was never so happy to see pieces of my shower curtain in my hallway as I was that day! I'm so thankful that I found you and her nearly 9 years ago. She was my best buddy, travel companion, and cheerful wearer of amazing and varied headgear. I miss her very much.
